I love my HD quick detach windshield. I can have it off the bike in about 10 seconds and back on in about 30 seconds. They do make a locking clamp you can add to it too. I'm spending my next set of rewards points on one for mine.
Quick detach windshields work great and only a moment to install or remove. But befor you go HD take a look at the aftermarket vendors out ther.
IMO Memphis Shades makes a much better set of quick detach hardware, they use a metal grommet on the forks instead of the HD rubber ones that rot , tear and wear out and the locking set up is better . Also overall they are less $, can be found on E Bay, Phatperformence, and other places for less than list. national Cycle also makes a better detach system than HD
I love mine. I have the HD quick detach Nostalgic shield for my Dekuxe. It is well worth the money, very effective at cutting the wind and bug in the face hits. With my shield on the ride is more comfortable.
Wind noise from my helmet to my ears are almost cut to zero. I keep mine on now most of the time except for quick rides around town. Longer distance rides it is a must have on for me.
It comes off of the bike a lot easier than to put on, although not too difficult. I use a drop Dawn dish soap on each plastic gromet as lube when when installing the shield because of the tight fit of the gromets.
My shield is the 21" tall one and I thought I would get it cut down but I have grown use to looking through it. If I don't slouch while riding I can see over the top. I am keeping as is.
I'm going to go with a Memphis Shades Fats with the gradient black bottom just trying to decide on 15" or 19"
Anyone got pics of either of these sizes??
Just to give you an idea, most windshield measurements are taken from the top of the headlight housing, not the bottom of the cutout.
Mine is exactly 18" (as shown), but only 17.25" or so if I measure from the cutout to the top...
If you're undecided, just get the taller one.
You can always cut it down to suit - it's just plexiglass...
