First decent day and as I was heading for a ride, the bike cuts out as I accelerate.
The check engine light is intermittently on, and the bike seems to rev limit about 3000 rpm.
Rode about 15 miles home this way. As long as I didn't accelerate hard, it was fine. But every time I hit this imaginary rev limiter, the entire bike dropped all power.
Bike has 600 miles on it. I did buy gas yesterday, but it it were water, it would probably be gone by now, plus with injection water tends to be less and issue.
Checked all obvious wiring, all seem fine.
Will call the shop tomorrow - anyone want to hazard a guess?
Can someone point me to the fault codes diagnostic procedure, I will check it out?
To check for codes, hold down TRIP, then turn the ignition switch to IGN.
The bike will enter diagnostics mode. it will run a light test (on the speedo), the speedo and tach needles will sweep to max then back down, and finally you'll see DIAG in the LED window.
At that point, you can toggle through the three main modules using TRIP; they are ECM, BCM and SPDO
If no codes are present each one will display a "N" next to the module name:
ie; "ECM N", "BCM N", "SPDO N"
If codes are present in any of them you'll see a "Y" instead.
In that case, stop there, and hold down TRIP until the codes for that module are displayed.
Then if more than one code is present, you can toggle TRIP to cycle through them.
Another quick way to check for the existence of codes, is to put the RUN/OFF switch into the RUN position, then turn the ignition switch to IGN. If you hear a loud beep, your bike is storing codes...
Check for loose coonection at the map sensor and throttle posistion sensor. When i installed my heavy breather i noticed that the connector om the tps was not snapped in all the way. You can get to tnem if u remove your air cleaner

That seems to be a quirk I heard of....put a small wire tie round it to keep it on
