I have that ugly seat and it's growing on me. You can order it with some of the padding taken out of the passenger portion so it's not so tall. But I bought it so I didn't have to have a backrest mounted to the struts. The seat is comfortable and brings you a little closer to the handlebars.

Are you still happy with this seat? i need another option as the stock BO seating is killing me.
This bike is not made for two up riding, I just attempted that over the weekend and due to the chopped fender the passenger is jammed up your a$$ so far you might as well chew on your handlebars. It makes me regret trading in my heritage. Save your money on the solo seat, too, I wish I did.
The breakout looks great don't get me wrong but I could tell from the get go the thing isn't good for two up. Reminds me of trying to ride two up on the sportster in a way. Holy crap the hurt.
I have had some aftermarket seat that looked great but were shyt to sit on for more thatn 90 mile. Personally I really like the stock seat on the breakout. I would not change it unless it got trashed. Just my $0.02. Then again i like my breakout so I am not ready for the streetglides everyone is riding these days.

+1 to this. Then again I came from a Ducati so anything with my feet forward is more comfortable!

If you don't mind the look of the stock pillion than I agree, the stock seat is really nice.
However if you want the solo look, the stock seat is not adequate. Once you take that pillion off you lose all back support and a portion of your lower rear support. You end up sitting on the aluminum mounts and it is very easy to slide backwards when getting on it.
Someone needs to come out with a nice looking real solo seat! Driving me crazy that no one has. I wish C&C had a bigger R+D department .

For me... Im' only 5'7" and ride 2-up a lot with my OL... I did upgrade the rear pillion to a Sundower and it's 1000% better for her. We have done 300+ several times and it's not that bad for either one of us. Now it does get a little tight in full gear ( leathers and chaps ) but still not that bad.

Sundowner Solo is very close to the stock look and has a 'lip' on the back slightly larger than the stock one for that missing support... I don't own one, looking at it closer, you can see it.

Do you put the stock seat back on when OL isn't riding? I find I do, quick swap, I think it looks better. SD to high when solo, just esthetically.

Sometimes I do... most of the time I just leave it solo mode with no pillion... unless I need my sissy bar for packing up stuff for work and strapping it down.... then I drop the stock pillion on. I only live a mile from work... so it's no biggie. If I go on a ride solo for a good distance.... I will drop the stock pillion on as well for that added lower support. I went on a 250 mile solo ride today with no pillion... wasn't too bad, but you know it's not there.
