Ok folks convince me on the Slim? Blackline? (05FXDLI owner) I had been planning to source and build a softail EVO, I am leaning towards slim already has boards-drawback is internal wired bars which are 1" and switching to mini apes
I made the big mistake of walking into the dealership both the slim and Blackline fit me, only initial project would be Mini apes for them stage 1 pipes then additions as I go Fatboy Lo brings the price up to where I could put the # scalloped paint set on the slim.
carl
I'd go slim as well. FWIW I think I read on here that the Blackline is canceled for '14.
Don't know if you care about that or not one way or the other.
Thank you all for the positive talk & insight of the slim. The big thing is it fits! I am vertically challenged, And it offers floor boards! The rear brake needs a little message to be 100% comfortable and removing the heel shifter all done in less then an hour.
Now to pick out pipes? Was thinking Bassani road rage 2, V&H pro-pipe V&H 2-2 big radius
Straight shots, Bassani Firesweep Turnouts ? Thoughts?
Oh and I did go through all of the pics for the Slim Nice looking rides!
Don't know if you are just going off looks or considering ride too. I test drove a blackline and overall the front end on the slim seems much more soft and stable at higher speeds. I do like the floorboards too. I think if I were looking for something along the blackline side of things I'd pick something out of the dyna line.
I have a Lowrider I looked at the new Dynas but since both the slim and Blackline fit
I thought a softail may be the way to go neither needed seat or suspension tweaking right out of the box, really leaning Slim
I can only vouch for the slim but I love it. I came from a sportster and triumph so the slim was a great departure but I really like the old school feel to it. You will also find s great community of slim owners here on the forum for a technical advice.
