Well I am going to be home all week. Looks like temps around 30 deg but some sun. I hope to get a few short rides in. Been a long two months on the road catching up after overhauling my truck engine.

We are suppose to get hit with freezing rain in the early morning so I guess I will leave the bike parked tomorrow. Rode into work this morning and it was a nice eye opening 22F.

I have not seen any Toys for Tots boxes in my area either this year.

Haven't seen any in the Houston area, either. Too early for bell ringers of the Salvation Army. I try to put something in the pot every time I come across one.

Toys for Tots and Salvation Army really do good for our needy.

Please support them both...

I know where there's a TfT box and a glass pump... but with the ice and chit on the road, I can't even get the bike to the driveway for some updated photos I wanted to take.

Ragnar ain't happy.

On a positive note, however, I did find out that a friend of mine just started up a powder-coating business just a few miles from here, and does great work.

Speaking of updated photos, we had a challenge a while back (#49, back in August) to find a steam locomotive.
That was one of my longer rides to meet a challenge...
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/11600790-post393.html

Anyway, just last week it was announced that that same locomotive was being removed and relocated to Ohio, but apparently the "buyer" is not a museum.

From the local paper:
"..Workers watch as a 1897-built H.K. Porter 0-4-0T Locomotive is lifted by crane onto a flatbed truck at Riverfront Park in Sewickley Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013. Sewickley Borough council accepted a $17,500 donation from Sugarcreek, Ohio-based Age of Steam Roundhouse to remove the locomotive, its adjoining coal car, a caboose and track from the park after borough officials deemed the items a safety hazard. The locomotive and caboose were donated by the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation and placed at the park in 2000..."

..and a picture of it being removed:

Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out there since things are slowing down a little...

A safety hazard? Really? The idiocy of the nanny state knows no bounds.
And just how far do they think $17,500 is going to get them?

May not be the same issue, but in my hometown, the city also removed
a coal train engine. Turns out all the paint on it was lead based &
was supposedly flaking off & could contaminate the kiddos that
played on it.

Just examples of the current regime's concerted efforts to remove any evidence of the greatness of our country's past. "Nothing special about our country.", they say. "Listen to us we are the government and we are here to HELP you..."
