2008 FXSTC w/ stage 1
I have:
S&S slipons (shotguns)
SE stage one AC
and HD factory download
I was told when I got the download that it's not exactly the best map due to govt. regulations/restrictions.
That said I've been tossing around the idea of buying a PowerVision tuner.
Would this be a worthwhile upgrade for me? I wonder if I will 'feel' the difference with a better map?
Maybe this unit will make my engine happier too?
What do you think?
I'm a big fan of the PV tuner. I didn't install it til I went to stage 1. Came preloaded with a Fuel Moto Stage 1 map that ran real well. After a few tuning sessions it ran much better...smoother and even more power. Went to Stage 2..same deal...Fuel Moto base map and some tuning runs. Really runs great.
I'm sure you can improve your current tune with the PV. The real advantage is when/if you decide to go further, the PV will make it run right.
If you can do it buy the PV , it will improve the overall performance and life of your engine if it is properly tuner.
Buy it from Fuel Moto and they will load a base MAP in it for you and also help you get started in data Logging to better dial in your tune if you want to do this. The PV is very easy to use and with the Fuel Moto customer support you have access to a lot more base MAPS than Dybnojet has as well as phone and on line support from a shop that is building and tuning bikes every day
For what you have, the power vision might be a bit much. Unless you plan on doing some motor work in the future. But if all you're gonna run is slip-ons and air cleaner, you might want to consider something cheaper like the Fuelmoto EFI tuner($239) which would be more than enough for your set up. It's actually a PCIII branded by Fuelmoto. I have one installed on my 07 deluxe and it works great. They actually sell the power vision for $499 but the support they provide would be worth more than the $70 you plan to save elsewhere. I don't believe they provide map support unless you purchase the unit through them.
Thanks. I couldn't imagine them not providing support because I bought the unit from another website. I mean they sell these to vendors...to sell to customers like me.
Anyways I ordered it and even with shipping it overnight for a tomorrow delivery I still spend $75+ less than buying it direct.
I like the features of this unit over the PC units. I love the idea of auto tune basic which will make this much easier for me.
Also I have been wanting to replace my S&S slip-ons with a full exhaust. But I knew I couldn't do that until I bought a tuner.
I was going to hold off on the exhaust but now that I bought the tuner...I think i might find an exhaust that I like and pick that up too.
I'd rather buy it elsewhere as I can save over one hundred dollars. Fuelmoto wants $549 or something right around there and I can get it for $429.95
Why would I spend more buying direct? Do they not offer the same support to customers that don't buy direct?
If you buy from someone other than FuelMoto, you will still have support from DynoJet. They have helped me before and offer excellent support on their own. However, Fuelmoto is also an excellent source for support. I have used them as well, and found their assistance to be excellent.
I thought it was well worth the $70 to be able to get support from both vendors, but whoever you buy from I think the PV is a good purchase....

Second that man! I just received the PV from Fuel Moto last week and flashed my '13 Lo (only mod is Rush 1.75 slip-ons) with their map. The bike runs a heck of a lot better.

Thanks all!
You've made a good choice. With a little reading and study, the PV becomes a valuable tool for those of us that are particular about how their bike runs...and like to make changes.
Keep us posted on your progress...there's a lot of good resources here and a huge thread on the PV in the tuners section.
