I have an 09 Train with 47,000 miles. On my way home from work, the speedo was jumping all around the place, then went to zero. When I came to a red light, as I was slowing down, the bike shut off. The bike started right up, and the issue went away. I have the stock speed sensor and speedo on the bike. Has anyone had an issue with this? Do I need to clean the speed sensor?
Thanks for your help!
This comes up frequently on here and usually that's the cause. Speed sensor could just be dirty if the speedo is coming back to life, or its just a sign that it's on the fritz. Another symptom besides what you're experiencing is that the signals won't auto cancel since that's controlled by that sensor as well.
So, you can try cleaning it and if it continues to happen, just replace it. They cost around $60 at the dealer.
