I know this subject has been beat in the ground but still have a question. I have a 03 Deuce and just purchased a new chrome deuce wheel and am looking at seting it up like the screaming eagle deuce with a 180-60 rear tire. Now as far as I know the screaming eagle had the same size wheel and swingarm as the non screaming eagle deuce. My question is if this is so how does Harley set up the screaming eagle to run this size rear tire with the factory belt guards and no belt to tire rub? In reading some forums I understand that I need to space my pulley out 1/8th inch from wheel, im guessing so the belt clears the tire. Is this what they do with the screaming eagle. Thanks for any help. O! just installed new HHI Trees with 5 degrees ofextra rake, gives the bike a nice look. sets level with about 3in of adational wheelbase.
If I remember correctly the SE wheel was a 5" wide as compared to the stock 4.5".
The SE swingarm had the caliper perch shaved by about a 1/2" thinner than the stock swingarm,Roughly 1" compared to 1-1/2".
They used a different caliper alsothat had a thinner axle spacing bungthan stock and allowed the wheel to be offset to the right.
They also used a different pulley spacer that was wider to give the belt to tire clearance.
The vulcan kit will work fine with the stock wheel and SE 180.
You might not need it but if you find you don't have enough threads on the stockaxleto get the nut secured properly you can switch the stock axle out for a older style Dyna axle from Drag Specs that will give you about an 1/2" more length.
