My question is how do you corner without dragging the pipes and what does vicla mean?

I am not 100% sure but I believe the VICLA started out in California and I would also guess by the mexicans. I believe the Vicla is just the lowrider version of motorcycles, like a mexican low rider car. I would not take that to the bank though. As for scraping the pipes? I don't know yet, I still don't have mine on but an old guy once told me that if you aren't throwing sparks you ain't ridin! I also put the air ride, Shotgun Shock on last year in anticipation of this build. I imagine when pulling in and out of driveways and around town? Pump it up. Out on the wide open highway, old country roads, slam it. Those without air ride? I don't have a clue other than to just slow it down, thats my guess. EDIT: OH, hey, what's up Ray? Still happy with all your mods? Anything new lined up, planned or in the works? Ride safe Brother.

Let's get a few facts straight;

1) Here is the definition of "vicla" from Baggers Magazine that is the best definition I've seen;

The Vicla is different than normally customized bikes; it's a style thatcomes from the barrio just as pachucos and lowriders did in days gone by. It has a Chicano style.

Spoke/larger wheels and custom/metal flake paint are the norm. These bikes usually have beach bars or apes, fishtails, and are a softail, but there are no set rules for this style as it is an expression of personal likes.

2) Quit referring to the style as “Mexican”. I’m not the politically correct police (far from it), but if you are going to emulate a style, you should show respect to its’ origins. The vicla style did originate in SoCal and can be found in cities with large Hispanic or Latino populations. These populations live in neighborhoods (barrios) that have their own flavor/food/clothing/language styles, but as represented in the movie “Colors”, have many races and heritages mixed in. They share being a part of the same socio-economic class. The term “Mexican” is slang for immigrant workers from Mexico, none of which ride around on tricked out bikes. This is more “Mexican” than the vicla style motorcycle;

3) CountryD, your bike is bad ***! However, it definitely is in the vicla style.

4) Having said that, you can no more tell a person’s race or heritage from the style of bike or car they own than you can from their last name. It used to be so, but not so anymore! I know a lot of guys that dig sporty’s, springer’s,and hardtail’s, but you’d be hard pressed to classify their heritage based ontheir bikes. Same-same with viclas. It is merely a personal preference of style and expression.

5) Fishtails do not scrape on curves on a level bike. Maybe so on a lowered one. The footboards touch down first and I use mine as “curb-feelers” to let me know when I’ve reached the lean angle limit of my bike. I scrape on purpose to get a rise out of people standing around and once used it on the switchbacks in the mountains to get a tool on a Goldwing off my ***. The dude freaked and backed way off as he thought I was going to lose it. I would even install a couple of magnesium bars to throw off sparks if it wasn’t for the fire danger (21 fires in Colorado right now).

6) I would have never picked this style of bike out of a catalog and would not have ever thought I’d be cruising around on one. But, the first time I test rode my bike, I couldn’t stop grinning and each and every time I ride it, I still get the biggest fuking grin! Style or not, it’s all about the ride!!!

Ok, on another note, I have seen those boots 1 time before and no matter what nationality you are those things are just silly, well, to me anyway. How would you even drive a car with those on? How would you do a lot of things with those boots on? I bet they can't even run from the border patrol or the police with those on or at least fast anyway!!!! OH well, to each thier own, it is what it is.

I'm mexican and I take offense to this whole thread. Oh wait a minute or am I chicano. No, I guess I'm mexican-american. Or latino or maybe hispanic, Yea that's it, but chicano sounds better so I'm leaning that route. I wear my cowboy hats and wear those really long pointy shoes pretty much on a daily basis. I style my bike from the horse
I used to cross the border. Its not a phoenomina or science, its my daily life. Lifes a risk carnal, live it up and ride.

Vicinity of Los Angeles?
