Default Carb questions

I am picking up a 2000 Heritage that has been sitting since 2009. It ran perfect before it sat for the past 4 years. Today we put brand new gas in it and with the choke on it fires up no problem. After warning it up and pushing the choke back in, the engine will die. If you rev it up it backfires pretty bad. I am familiar with carbs, as I used to race and tune Yamaha YFZ 450s, so I'm pretty sure I can tune this carb. Does it sound like a dirty jet is the issue since it's been sitting so long? It also sounds like the throttle needs to be adjusted. Please give me some advise. Thanks

Pretty simple. If you have raced and tuned before, you know how small those pilot jets are. Flush the tank, clean the filter and give that carb a good cleaning. It's about as basic as it gets.
