2011 FatBoy Lo. Air cleaner/Road Rage 2 into 1/dealer dyno tune/redline synthetic in all 3 holes.
NOMOREFRIEDTHIGHS installed.
I live in Vegas, and it was 110 today.
Okay, I live in the desert. It's hot. I get that. But before buying this bike, we rented a 2010 Road King and did 600 miles last year in the summer. It was hot then, too, yet she didn't get the heat on her shins (mostly the right one) that she gets from the Lo.
I mean, when I ride alone, which is most of the time, I can reach down to where her shins would be, and by God, it is HOT down there. And not just stopped. When cruising down the road at 45 or 50, the heat is intense.
I have been looking at a couple of threads on wrapping pipes. My Road Rage have the heat shields installed, so I am not sure how much it would help to wrap the pipes.
Like I said, I have the NOMOREFRIEDTHIGHS product, and while it doesn't do much, what it does help is mostly for me, and not the passenger.
So has anyone been able to deal with the heat on the passenger legs? Tell me about it!
Got the same year, same pipes, and same problem. I look like a dog on a hydrant if stopped too long. I wrapped mine to no avail, so double wrapped them and it's somewhat better. Need to put the heat shield back on but with the double wrap I'm going to have to modify. I've got new pipes by rb racing coming, but also doing a engine upgrade so it will never be apples for apples but will report on heat exchange anyway.
Capt. Itch Crotch Cooler. This will do the trick. My wife use to complain about the heat off the engine/pipes but now with the Capt. Itch crotch cooler she says the problem has gone away. The crotch cooler redirects the HOT air off the engine and pipes inside and behind her shins. Give them a call they are a forum sponsor.
Maybe try an oil coller to bring down some of the engine heat as well. I know when I ride here in SouthAZ the back of my calves get smoked to the point where it feels like razor blades grazing my skin at 90 mph. I figured it was the heat from the motor exiting through some sort of air current. Anyway good luck.
I will have some info on this very subject in a few weeks when my bike is done and I get it back. I am changing pipes and I had my head pipes under the heat shields ceramic coated. I am told it's good up to 1100 degrees. Am I going to be able to reach down and grab the pipes? No, I doubt that seriously but I am hoping it really knocks down the heat signature on the pipes making it much more comfortable. In my area I paid 125 bucks to have the 3 head pipes under the heat shields ceramic coated. I am anxious and curious to see just how well it works. If you shoot me a PM so I don't forget about you I will respond once I have had them and can tell you from 1st hand experience. I have a lot of people asking questions and I'm just trying not to forget anyone and the best way to do that is to send me a little something so I know who you are, don't forget anyone and I can then pass all this info on to those who have asked from 1st hand experience. I can't use a crotch cooler because I have a temp and pressure gauge I like to keep my eyes on.

We have had a lot of our customers tell us the same as above..If we can help you out just let us know..
Looking at the pics, I cannot see how this design could possibly help out my passenger, but I am running out of options.
I placed my order about an hour ago. At least the captain offers money back if it doesn't work for us.
Thanks, Captain, I'll let you know if it works for us,
Michael
How it works is that it directs the air coming off the engine just in front of the oil tank and directs it down around the oil tank and back towards the rear wheel.
It is between your legs, and the passengers legs, and the oil tank.
With the passenger on the rear seat and their legs on the pegs/floorboards the back edge of the crotch cooler is just behind the back side of their leg/ankle directing the hot air behind them.
