shock adjustment jam nuts
I only tightened down the jam nut using my shock adjustment tool.
I'll be damn, one of the jam nuts was backed out but the shock Can doesn't appear to have moved (I have both Cans marked).
I was able to get a 9/16 wrench on the threaded shaft and my shock adjustment tool on the jam nut to tighten it down.
I have my shocks adjusted as far out as I can with the shock adjustment tool while still being able to tighten the jam nut with the tool.
This leaves plenty of room to get a regular 9/16 and 1 1/16 wrenches on.
With about 400 .lbs on the bike I never bottom out so you either have more than 400 .lbs on the bike or you have the shock cans adjusted for way more than 400 .lbs.
So I think perhaps you either need to back the cans out a bit or go ahead and tighten only the jam nut.
So to answer your question; yes without holding down the 9/16 threaded shaft the jam nut can loosen itself.

lol. Ya, I was adjustin for a bit over 400. I'm an easy 260 and my GF occasionally rides with me with luggage. Depending on the ride, I may back off a lil. Thanks for th reply, I'll keep an eye on them.
