Gear position indicator acting weird. Any ideas?

I just learned to ignore it after a while. It's got around 24,000 miles on it now and gets on down the road so I just stopped worry about it I guess. Might try that reboot thing though just for the heck of it. Like Sgt Jim I've also had the sixth gear light come on occasionally but can't point to anything wrong so it's just going on the ignore list too.

It may be a software glitch in the speedo. The way that thing works is it calculates which gear your in based on speed and rpm. It's not calculating right. Saw something on another thread that might work. Kill the power to the speedo (I'd disconnect the battery cable) and let it sit for a while. Kind of a reboot. Reconnect the cable and see what happens. Won't hurt to try.
Checkers, I think at saw it of your thread. Did you try what I just said? You have to completely disconnect the negative side st the battery because there are a couple of grounds on that terminal.
