Just got back from a 300 mile ride w/a buddy of mine who rides a dyna. A majority of it, we were cruising around 80-90. With average highway winds, my bike shakes like a crack fein and I'm forced to white knuckle it. Then once we stop, I'm beat from the ride.
About 30 miles out from the end of the ride, I switched bikes with my buddy. His dyna rides on rails! My bike is slammed to the ground with a 21" up front. His dyna has new springs, rubber mou, nts, fork stabalizer, & a lower frame shock/stabalizer thing built only for dynas. It was the best riding bike I've ever been on. By no means am i wanting a dyna!!
Anyone have this problem w/their softails? How can I get my FXST feel like its riding on rails also?
-any help is appreciated

My Heritage rides just fine, but I haven't jacked with the suspension or changed wheel/tire sizes.
Yeah, if you change things, then things change. The geometry is pretty important in motorcylces with only two wheels, even slightly low air pressure can make a difference in stability and ride. Big changes make big differences.
Is it lowered front and rear? Bolts or air ride or 422's? If you lowered just the rear, then handling will certainly change, and not sure if you can get it back without doing the front. If both, try adjusting the rear in 1/4" increments. When I lowered mine, took me a bit to get it dialed in. I found that even just an 1/8" adjustment to rear ride height made a noticeable ride difference. Steady as a rock now.
I'd imagine that altering suspension and wheels is going to make a pretty big difference. My slim with stock suspension and wheels is so smooth at 80 that the first time I got it there I didn't even realize I was going that fast. A thousand times smoother than my nighster. Primarily due to a fat front wheel and softer suspension.
Check your tire pressure, you also prob need to check/ balance your wheels?
Also as others have mentioned, try riding with stock suspension.
My softail rides as stable as my RKC.
