Default Breakout Primary Adjustment

Hey everyone. My Breakout is my first bike, and I have reached 1k miles on it. I don't really feel like paying Harley $500 for service so I bought a service manual. Although I am usually pretty good about figuring things out on my own, I need advice on adjusting my primary. The manual just says to buy a tool that would measure the deflection, but I am unsure of where I would check it. I watched several videos on how to do this, but they all check it via an inspection cover. There isn't an inspection cover on my bike. When I changed the primary fluid, I just saw the clutch through the derby cover, and it didn't look as if I could get at the chain. I know that the newer softails have an auto primary adjuster, but the manual says that it should be adjusted. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Your primary has an automatic primary chain adjuster on it. It sounds like you are talking about the drive belt deflection? You can do that without touching the primary.

Yes, you are right. I must have confused them somehow. I appreciate the response.

Anyone looking for a service manual that doesn't mind electronic format (I actually prefer it myself) can get the updated 2013 softail service manual plus the electrical diag manual for $39. http://www.motorcycle-manual-downloa...roducts_id=171

Yep mine is about to reach 1k so I got that electronic service manual and plan to do everything myself. Not only will I save money but I'll feel better knowing I did it myself.
