So I've been out of town the last two weeks and started up the bike and took it for a ride around the neighhborhood. When I pulled back into the garage, there was this odor of something burning. The only visible thing I can make a guess at is the powder coat on the tube that connects to the exhaust? There appears to be some bubbling in the powder coat but I'm not 100% sure since its still too hot to touch. I literally drove it about 3 mins before I noticed the smell so it's not like the bike was fully warmed up.
Thoughts? Bike is still new, 914 miles so far. Exhaust burn off perhaps? Any other ideas?
I went and looked at mine and see absolutely nothing out of the ordinary....only thing I could possibly think of is if you are running an aftermarket pipe and tune, maybe its something with the tune is messed up and your exhaust is getting extremely hot....even hotter than normal??? I cant think of anything else, as there really isnt much else that should get to an exhorbant temperature in that area...especially not enough to melt off paint or powder coat....
Can you post a pic of what you are seeing, as I am not sure what part is getting hot from your description...and then I can look for the exact same thing on mine...
