Default New 2013 Slim

I would first like to say hello to all.
I recently picked up a new Softail Slim, like everyone else I'm making it my own.
So far I have an HD oil cooler and happy with that, and a Steal Your face Derby Cover from Pan-Galactic Sculpture from ebay, his wife is still trying to keep up the motorcycle end of Bob's excellent work. ( still a dead head tho quite a bit older now )

Now down to what I'm doing, I still haven't decided whether to go with Rush #27511-175 2.25 Slash Down Slip-ons in Black, or Vance and Hines #46841 Twin Slash Slip-ons in Black, I like the sound of both, I do realize there is a big difference in price between the two and the reason I'm going with Slip-ons is because I like the style of the head pipes and I'll be adding stock Harley Black heat shields.
If anyone is running either of those mufflers I would like your take on them, I'm also looking at the Arlen Ness Big Sucker Stage 1, I have the 8" round Black air cleaner cover on the Softail and from reading the fine print the Big Sucker should fit under it.
But on the other hand a K&N HD-1611 Replacement Air Filter states that it flows better than stock, quite a bit less than the Big Sucker.
I'll also be adding the Vance & Hines Fuel Pak 2012 St/Dyna #61017, some kind of fuel management is going to be a must with the work I want to do, those are the big ticket items I have left, other goodies are coming in this week to completely black out the front end and motor.
Thank you for checking out my post.

I ride a 13 Black Denim Slim that I bought back in mid June. I'm slowly making changes after a lot of thought because I do like the flavor of the Slim as is. I put a set of SE red plug wires on the bike because I felt the left side lacked a little pazazz The chrome pipes on the right suit me just fine, they just left the left side a bit "unbalanced", if you will. For the same reason I have bought the round chrome accessory horn cover. I plan on changing out the a/c cover to the nostalgic, round chrome cover to match. I'm still trying to decide on a sissy bar and pad for the wife but will probably end up with the detachable number so when she's not riding, off it will come along with the 2-up sundowner seat.

I did install the 1.75 Rush slash down chrome mufflers a couple weeks ago. I checked out both the Rush and V&H and thought the Rush sounded more like my ideal of the Harley sound plus, of the mufflers I examined, the chrome finish on the Rush looked a slightly better. Not that there was anything wrong with the V&H. I probably would have been happy with either and to tell the truth the local MOCO dealer was pushing the V&H mufflers.

Good luck with your Slim and I hope you enjoy riding yours as much as I do mine. Stay safe.

CJ

I have the V&H slip ons and I really like the sound along with the way they look. The V&H is kind of a cool setup because you can see the chrome tips at the end of the pipe just past the ceramic heat shields. I've had V&H systems on all my last three bikes. They are a little more pricey but all the exhaust systems I've received from them are top notch.

I also went with the vance and hines twin slash 3 inch on my breakout .. They look great and sound great as well ... I am sure the sound will be the same on the slim as it has the 103 as well ... Good Luck

Thank you for checking out my post.
I run the ANBS and I tried the 8" round nostalgic air filter, it will fit fine, but you mat have to shim it out a bit to stop the back edge of the cover scratching the breather bolts, a 1/4 rubber disc should do it.

I wasn't taken with the look so I went with a 7" air cover just like the nostalgic one except its the one that was designed to fit a circa 1980 FXR. Fits perfectly.
