Default Can you unwarp a warped brake disk (floating)

As the title says:

I have a set of teardrop floating brake disks and the front one apparently is warped, because I can hear it rubbing. Also when I apply the front brake it actually feel like it catches on the high spot more than the low. Gives it a vibration feeling.

NO, all you can do is replace it. Unlike a car rotor you can not machine it

Even if you could, which I doubt, it would probably involve enough heat and/or cutting of the surface to render it unsafe to use.
I wouldn't even try to mess with such an important component.
Why not just replace it and be done with it?

Not a floating rotor. With a 1 piece rotor you can "tweak" it back into spec but a floating rotor floats thus it cannot be manipulated in the same way.

Sometimes the buttons - if it has buttons? - will freeze up. Usually after washing at a car wash. Maybe it is the harsh soap they use there? IDK. The rotors can get locked in a screwy position - not floating and feel like they are warped. You could try putting an allen wrench or screwdriver in the button holes and exercise them - move the buttons around to free them up. If you are careful not to get the rotor surface you can put a SMALL amount of wd40 or similar to help out - getting any excess off of there. It is worth a shot before replacing your rotors.

I've never taken it thru a car wash, but I will try playing with the buttons.

Dude, man, this just proves "no question is a stupid question". That button thing worked. No more rubbing and sounding like its warped. No more shaking when braking hard.

I always thought it to be a dumb question, and was about to pull the trigger for a new set of disc at 140 bux a shot.

So glad I asked. Can't believe I rode with that awful sound and feeling. This thing rides so smooth again. Like night and day.

Once again, Thanks..........................

Thanks for that tip Bill. I don't have any trouble with my floating discs, but if I do, that will be the first thing I try.
