Default Considering going back to a softail

I started out on a new 08 Night train and rode it for close to 4 years. Traded it on a 07 Streetglide and have gotten that about how I like it. Bike is fully equipped with PM wheels, Rinehart 2 into 1, PC3,16" apes etc...

OK now to the story. I saw a FB post of my local dealers bike of the week or whatever and almost fell in love. It is a 06 train that is tricked out.

Bike has cams, aftermarket wheels, front fender, lowered, bars etc. I really like it.

I Went and got a quick number on my bike. they offered 12500 trade on my 07 SG and they want roughly 14K for the 06NT which I feel is high. Basically they want my title plus 2200 out the door. What are your thoughts? I was thinking straight trade sounded more realistic LOL...

I am not interested in taking a bath on my bike and wont. Title is in hand and it does ride better like that...

Tell them they can ask for the moon but their not going to get it. Tell them you want an even trade and see where it goes from there. You could get more for your bike selling it out right at a discount than what they are offering. They want to make a ton on selling your bike and selling you the train.

I does seem a little high, but it would depend on what is installed and how many miles it has. If it has $5000-$8,000 in accessories/upgrades and low miles... definitely worth it.

I may be a little biased, but, imo the night train is the baddest bike Harley has ever made, and now they stopped making them. ..... collectors item?

You can always turn a Night Train into a touring bike, you can't turn a touring bike into a Night Train.

According to KBB a straight trade would be about right.

Yeah they are trying to gain huge profit at both ends. I gave my # to the salesman I usually deal with and told him that when they stop trying to cut my head off to call me...LOL

I'd walk away from that deal.

Straight trade.

They will have an easier time selling the SG because they are so damn popular right now --- even though the Night Train is one of the coolest bikes harley made

Just a small update. I was at the dealer to pick up a brake switch for my Sg today and saw the sales manager. Stepped in and asked if they still had the 06 train I been drooling over. Yes and I explained the deal presented to me last week. He pulled up the computer and threw a figure at me. Trade plus 1000.00 my way. Got me back to thinking about it again...

I might ask for 1500.00 and I keep my SE heavy breather and see if they go for that.

Now to continue to convince the O/L to go back to a softail....

Don't underestimate the convenience and security of going through a dealer.
My last purchase was from a private party, and it took the former owner's lienholder, Harley financing, two weeks to even furnish me with a payoff letter (I gave them cash), and a title. Lots of other hassles. Kind of a nail-biter.

A previous purchase through a dealer? Everything was done on the spot.

Your glide is definitely worth more. Last time I checked upgrades aren't worth retail values. Sounds like Narley being Harley and trying to collect more then a standard commission. At the end of the day you should do what makes you happy. IMHO I'd walk unless they can give you 2500 and the Train.
