Default Lowering rear pedal on heritage

My pedal needs lowered.have to lift my foot off board to get to brake and I don't like it.i see they make extenders from $80 to $150. Anyone ever heat up and bend there lever? I know it will discolor it but thinking about trying it then maybe paint it black. Any thought?

I would just get the floorboard extenders, raises the boards up about an inch and out about an inch. Much more comfortable and it doesn't affect the leverage of the pedal or weaken it.
