Sometimes this forum gets me worried about stuff that I don't really need to be worried about.
If all you've got to worry about is whether or not safe to keep your bike stock then you've got a well balanced life.
Seriously, if Harley thought there was something wrong with their design they would obviously have to fix it because the law suits would kill the company.
I think most people are like me.
My Heritage is not only something that can get me from point A to B, but it's also my hobby. A "stage 1 upgrade" is just something people can do themselves relatively cheaply and "enhances" performance.
We all upgrade, modify, and add to our bikes by choice not by necessity.
Harley has engineered the bike to run to certain conditions and you don't have to worry about it.having said that factory bikes are very restrictive ,you will not believe how much better your bike runs and feels with a good tune in it. In my opinion a stage 1 is a must and it feels like you are riding a different bike when installed! So smooth and more power and cooler running, you will notice just how tight the motor was before it! Almost like it was choking itself! Just an FYI any guy that leaves his Harley stock is the guy that doesn't think twice about riding in his loafers !
