Why is it you don't see many Softails with HiWay pegs?

Twice in 6yrs the Eng guards have kept my bike from hitting the ground, the bike will stop at about a 45* angle. So I like having them on the bike.

five Softies don't have Forward controls, the Lux, FB, Heritage, Slim and CVO Convertible have almost the same Upright position as the Touring bikes.

Probably the Heritage has the most bikes with Eng-Guards on them and a lot of them that have them have the foot rest built in. Like the Lindby, so U don't need the HW pegs.

Also IMO it helps to have a good back rest to really lean back on and get settled in with H-W pegs which most ST seats don't allow for.

Another reason I think is most Softail riders don't do long trips as often. More do around town and Bar hopping kind of riding. So they don't need them.

Then U have a lot of others that ONLY care about Looking Good and still some others who do all the Bike shows. They don't care at all about comfort because they seldom spend long hrs in the seat, and its all about looks to win.

When I take trips (talking 5-6 days of 8-9hrs of ridding) I've found in the past that on My Heritage I can stretch out and put my heels on the front of my FloorBoards and be just fine.

Son did get me a set of fully adjustable HD HI-Way pegs last Christmas, but I haven't put them on yet. I'll prob put them on before the next trip I take just to have another foot position to change to. But this Yr Medical issues have keep me from doing the big trips.

I have them on my Street Glide and on my Deluxe. Love the option of changing my feet position . Maybe that it is one of those things that if you never had it you don't miss or need it. Like my radio on the S G. I miss not having it on the Deluxe.

I have the mustache guard with the built-in footrests, but they're pretty much useless.
Too high and too far inward.
I much prefer the floorboards anyway...

Typically people buy tourers to tour so highway pegs really come handy when you are on the highway and need to stretched your legs. I had them on my 09 RKC and 11 limited. I don't need them on my FLSTC because I don't do as much highway riding (mostly back roads) and the tourer floorboards are much higher (better lean angle) than the softails floorboard which allows more leg room. If I need to stretch my legs out even more I just place them on top of my engine guards.

Never leave home without them! Perfect position on mustache guard for long rides. Can stretch way out with feet on pegs or partial stretch with heel on floorboards and toes on pegs. Being 6'2" it really helps. Probably less so for short riders.

its a more natural relaxing position for my feet and legs. it also allows for easier rear brk application and reaction time.
