I got this locally for my Road Glide but it does not fit. He claimed that it would fit touring (98-07) bikes and came from 01 Road King. Now the guy is not returning/answering my calls. I would appreciate any help from anyone on which models this will fit so I can put it in the right section.

What backrest? You have not described it or any pictures of it. Someone could help you if they can see what it is that you have and trying to get rid of it. The guy isn't answering because he knows he screwed you. I HATE thieves and that is exactly what he is if he knowing sold you something that he knew would not work for you.
The vertical portion of the bracket where it widens, touches the tour pack bracket.
When I had my 03 Electra Glide, I did not have issues with the passenger backrest that came with the bike. It looks somewhat different from this: single (welded) piece bracket and 3 holes on the back of the backrest pad were arranged differently. So I thought this may be for a softail model.
Looks like softail quick detach. Measure from the center of the front holes to the rear holes on the mounting bracket. Also measure the width of the mounting bracket. Its a nice setup with the quick detach hardware and wide pad.

I am sure that is why he is ignoring my calls. It is just not worth it trying to find him and return it to him. It is in mint condition (for something off of 01 Road King) so I bought it. Looked similar to my other backrest except for the pad mouting bolt/hole locations and other minor differences.
Good luck Dude. I don't know what you paid for it but for a good and fair asking price I am sure you will be able to get rid of it. There are many, many guys out there that can't afford new stuff so they sit back and wait for what they want used and in mint or good condition. I was thinking about painting my bike this coming winter, something I might not do now but if I did I didn't want to use, ruin or lose the tins I have in black and white. I bought another tank for peanuts compared to what it cost new. I also got another stock seat so I can change up the looks of my bike but keeping it a stock seat. I also got that for pennies on the dollar too. If you can't sell it here post it on Craigslist. For the right price it won't last long especially with winter right around the corner and when most guys start on or do their mods to their bikes.
