Default wheel question

I have a 99 heritage softail. The rear wheel is rusted badly inside. A friend gave me a set of factory take offs from a 2005 heritage. Ive done some measuring and it looks like the wheels are the same. The only difference I see is the rear pulley is smaller on the 05 wheel than the 99. My question is will 05 wheels fit on a 99 and is all I have to do is swap the pulley? Thanks!:icon_bike ::icon _bike:

Do not quote me on this but I think it would fit. I went through the same thing your going through now about different year wheels fitment. My problems were the axle sizes were different. I can't see no problem with your fitment if you took all the measurements and especially if the axle sizes and spacers are the same. If all is good and you swap the pulley, you should be good to go. Good luck... Let us know how you made out? Ride safe...

I need to check the axle sizes out. I haven't thought of that.
If they fit, I 'd love to make the new spokes tubless, but I know that opens up a whole different subject. I wonder if there are companies that would professionally convert the spokes to tubless. I've read all the dyi stories of silicone, liquid nails and everything. Just a little unconfident of this procedure.

Older bikes had 3/4" axles and some moved to 1" over the years. If you find you have 3/4 ID bearings and the new wheels have 1" ID bearings, you may be able to swap the bearings
