Check out the bags on my bike.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=900271

They are a pia to mount permenant like I did, but as throw overs they are perfect.
They came with the mounts but the screws were the wrong size for my fender so I picked up screws at Home Depot.
They are viking bags and were $159 but they also have cheaper ones. http://www.vikingbags.com/

I picked up inexpensive bags in Daytona bike week and then added easy brackets So when I don't need them they come off in seconds. and I keep the look of the FB.

Thanks. Been a lot of great advice. Glad to see I'm not the only one that likes a little extra storage.

So far though, I seem to like the Viking Bags referenced here. Going to research it a little more but they price seems right.

Thanks, David

Not bags but plenty of storage.

Got a set of the 37DCs from a member here. Very well made and yes expensive. The bags I got were drilled for a fatboy, but I drilled new holes for the Heritage (same bags). Best looking bags IMO, though they sit a bit high. If I use them again, I plan to make some drop brackets out of 1/4" aluminum flat bar stock.

I have the Large with pockets. I can fit a full face helmet inside. I also have a large overnight type bag that fits perfectly.

How firm is it for a backrest? Will the xl be too big on my fatboy as the large looks like its sticking all the way out?

The inside is a solid piece of PVC pipe so it is completly rigid. The XL is the same diameter just 4 inches wider. My opinion is that the xl would be great for trips but to wide for everyday use. Since I never take mine off the bike I went with just the large.

Here is a little better view of the large.
The website lists all the sizes and has pictures of the inside as well.
