1st Service Help! 2006 Deluxe
I am planning on doing my first service myself but I dont have a HD service manual. I will eventually buy one, but I lack funds at the moment. Is there a "Thread" or link which gives directions for the first service? torques, etc. . Hook a Brother up.
Have the Dealer do your first service. This service is the break in inspection and can make things easier in the future Warranty wise. They cannot discriminate after the first one.
Even though it's really only a Fluid change, the dealer has a check list that they are suppose to go through. I had the dealer do my 1k and at the same time they also change out my 8 deg Injectors to the 25 deg ones.
I will however do my own service from this point on and keep it documented with receipts.
Good Luck..
Mike.

Mike NY,
Why did you change out your injectors. Excuse the ignorance. Does it make a big difference going with the 25 degree ones?

Get the manual and do the service yourself. The manual is less than $50 from one of the discount dealers and with fluids, etc. you will spend about $100 doing it yourself vs. the dealer for $280. Just keep good records of all the work and your receipts. You won't have a warranty problem if you do the service right and keep records. The dealer is just going to give this kind of work to the new guy that is making $10/hr. I would trust my own work over theirs.
