Smile She's so tight!!

No, my bike!! 2006 Heritage Classic. It has not dripped a single drop of oil since I bought her used last year. Not a single speck of oil anywhere on the engine, not even the trans or the primary. It is completely dry, even the bottom of the engine. What gives? I thought Harleys had a reputation for dripping oil all the time? And does she run good? Marvelous, just marvelous!!

Harleys reputation of dripping oil was a pre 1980's thing.

The crank case is glued together with no gasket, the primary has a three layer gasket that has a slight V-shape. Both it and the timing chain side have some type of sealer sprayed on the gasket when assembled at the factory that makes it stuck together. When I check my tensioners at 30K, I took an old timer cover and drilled a 1/2" hole in the center for my sliding hammer to pop the cover off.

Be careful bragging on anything mechanical.

Somebody should sneak over to his bike and put a spoonful of used oil under it!! We did that to a buddy of mine after he bragged about how tight his 'vette was. Thought he was gonna have a heart attack for a second there...

Well if it's any consolation to you, my '06 marks it's territory on a regular basis.
