You sound like a brave man. Hope it works. I'd take it to a pro. Mine looked terrible after a guy said he could do it on mine. I got my tank and front fender back to perfect for $300.
The guy that painted my bike is coming over this afternoon to visit his bike (it's stored in my garage over the winter). I'll bounce this question off him and get some pointers for you.

On a tiny spot like a bb unless I was showing the bike it would not be a big deal. An old trick some guy told me once and I have used quite a few time is pull a match from a match book use the torn end to pick up a little paint and then just touch it. I mean if your looking to get back to the factory finish that would be a major project but if looking to have it not be so noticeable the match trick works
Also I did what you are doing to my wife's GX-470 S.U.V, it's PEARL WHITE, 3 color's I bought, bace coat, pearl to go on bace then clear, very small rock chip, but I was going to make disappear!!!!!!!! that spot now stick's out like turd in punch bowl!!!! so the next time another rock cheap popped up, so I just cleaned area and used bace coat only which was white color of car, you must really look to see it, but just my thought's ,could be wrong, your bike, it's kind of like small stain on carpet, use to much crap, next timestain is big as plate. PURPLE HAZE. GOOD LUCK.
