Farout reaching headlight.
I am a little behind doing this but after I hit that Deer and a suggestion from Benway I am seeking input from those who has something better than the stock headlight on their bikes. I am in the market and looking for a headlight that really throws the light out there. I think we all know that Harley stock bulbs aren't worth crap. Mine maybe reaches out there 75, 100 feet if that. 100 feet at 50mph is NOTHING! I have seen these bulbs that go as high as 500 bucks and I prefer not drop that on a headlight but if it's my only option, so be it. My Hospital bill is going to be a few grand so do the math. I am looking for those with personal experience, not something someone read somewhere.
I think the only hope one has in avoiding hitting a Deer is if you can get light out there far enough to be able to see them sooner. It would be my luck I put one of those high dollar bulbs in and then get dinged with a rock. I might also be putting my light bar back on even though I like the look it now has without it. I got VERY lucky once, I prefer not test that luck ever again.

Tony...you need Daymakers. I know it's a plug for a Harley product, but I've got them installed on both my Road Glide and my Softail Springer. Your Deluxe with 3 LED lights will be a tremendous improvement over stock.
The light is so purely white that everything is much brighter. The shoulders on the roads are much more lit up and there aren't any dim spots in the pattern like you see with standard halogen bulbs. When aimed properly, they really do make day of the night. Anyone I ride with at night asks me to ride up front just because of the lighting output.
Pricey for sure, but look to the online discounted dealers. These will become a standard install for any bike I own...

Tony,
I know they aren't the HD brand, but I've got the TruckLight setup on all three of my forward lights and couldn't be happier. Plug and play installation, and you can get all three for just about the cost of the HD headlight. You might also check out JW Speaker; I believe they either make the Kuryakyn or Harley headlight.
My son went with HID on his '08 Deluxe, and is happy with that option. Good luck.

Thanks guy's. A new light up front went to the top of my winter mods list. If you wonder why, hit a Deer and you will figure it out yourself in a hurry. I have no enemies but if I did I wouldn't wish that on any of them. I don't mind spending big dollars on my bike if the parts are worth it but man I would hate to drop that kind of money only to have a rock take it out. I have a TON to do today but I will research all of these recommendations on Google at work over the weekend.
I just installed a 35w HID H4 in the main light. It is truly plug and play. Here is the link to it -

Here is what they look like. The green/blue tint is from the Iphone used. They do NOT look like that in person. The second pic is the high beam, and you can not even look at it. I will use either 6000k halogen or led in the aux lights.
I did this due to having the 55w versions in my sport bike. I am having 10-1 Harley/sport bike issues with people not seeing me. Yesterday when I rode it to work, the sun was shining on the front of the bike, and I could not see them at all. That would explain a lot.

Tony, you're handy enough to do the hid in the Jeep headlight mod: you can get a $40 hid bulb and fit it into a Jeep headlight. a Jeep CJ headlight will fit your bucket just fine, and if you get one in a "E code" rating, which is the European equivalent of DOT, the "cut-off" is alot stricter and the hid won't scatter the light so much that it blinds everybody. I did this and the amount of light it puts out there is amazing, I don't think I'd trade even for an LED. You can get the headlight at quadratec.com and the bulb at ddmtuning.com
Another consideration, if you haven't already done it -
Either purchase the adapter kit from HD or DIY on the passing lamps to keep them on when you turn on your hi-beams.
That too makes a big difference in that the hi-beam illuminates further down the road, but the passing lamps still illuminate the shoulders.
