How old is the battery, and what voltage reading are you getting off it? Have you cleaned the connections?
I took the one on it and put on another bike and it started fine but went ahead and put a new battery on the deuce and nothing different! the new battery is 12.7 volts and the cables are good and clean.
The Softail is a real pain to check because the oil tank covers the wire running to the starter relay, best way to check to see if your relay is working and getting a signal going to the starter is checking it on the relay. Ok here is the pole location for the starter relay. 87 is the wire going to the starter solenoid from the starter relay it should be hot when the start button is pushed and key is on
