21 3.5 ride wright with a 120.70.21 Metz by diamond back tires front lowered 2 inch 16 inch ride wright with a stock Dunlop in the rear still running my hi Lo air suspension going on five years
I've got a nice fat bonus check coming after the first of the year and part of it is going for fat spokes.
I'm old school enough to prefer a fat 16 on the back, but I'm torn on the front. I really believe an 18" fits the front end perfectly, and I really don't like the skinny look of a 21" from straight on...
Anyway, I've got a few months to think about it.
I'm running a 21 inc on a 3.5 rim. I was torn for quite awhile trying to make the decision to go 21 or not I was not going to go the stretching route I waited it out and was able to get the 120 70 21 with a 3.5 wheel that was the turning point for me I was bouncing it around for over a year but as soon as I found out I could get the tire I wanted with the 3.5 wheel I jumped right in. I like the look of the 21 but the 16 looks just as good on my bike it gives it more of a true classic look the 21 takes a little away from the classic look.i am sure it won't be long now before the deluxe goes in. A different direction this style has been around for five years or better now and almost all of them are looking the same besides a few.just about every member who spends time on this forum who has a deluxe has the 21 inch wheel with fat spoked apes or burly bars shotgun shock , fender rails and a nacelle including myself it's like a little factory you find this forum and it begins . I said it before and i will say it again about 6 or so years ago Samson the exhaust people had a bike built with there long tail fishtails hard bags apes and a few other things and it began right there. These images were posted in hot bike back in 2009
nikonf8 said it, many if not close to all swap out their 16" tires and wheels for the larger sizes. I do think it looks cool on some bikes but it's not for me or my bike. I just don't think you can beat the look of a pretty deluxe sitting on it's 16" wheels and tires. I especially like the 16" tires and wheels when the fenders have been stretched but that's just me.
