Dyna just looks like a sporty. (no offense to Sporty owners)
Really? That's like saying that the springer looks like a slinkey...and your slinkey would have a hard time keeping up with a dyna in the twisties. My brothers tried, and he's been riding much longer then I have....

Is the sportster and the dyna almost the same, or is it two different ballgames?

Even though I mainly ride 2-3 hour trips, I don't want to lose the option to go on long hauls if I feel like it....

( Yeah yeah. I know people ride across the states on hardtails, but I want it comfy hehe )
It's sounds like you might want to look at the road king and/or a road glide. They are the most nimble tourers because they don't have a heavy fairing mounted to the forks. You should really find a dealer that will let you do test rides on a lot of bikes because it sounds like you know what you want but not which bikes does what you want the best. The cross bones is too awesome to trade in on something you are not sure about.

You've done it now! You went and insulted the Dyna crowd. Run for the hills!

Yeah...

Not going into the touringline just yet. Maybe next time. When I ever decide to go for a tourer it's probably gonna be the street glide, but I need some more years on my back first. Besides, they're too expensive. Insane prices on Harleys over here ( Norway ) because of taxes....

One of my Brothers has a '12 Fat Bob. It's a nice scoot. Handles really well, runs like a champ. He's very happy with it. I like the way it rides, too, better than the Bones I rode once. That's my experience with about 50 miles in the saddle of either bike.

I love springers, and would welcome one to my garage IN ADDITION to what's there, not as a replacement. Wouldn't want one for my primary ride.

That said, I gotta ask the MOCO - WTF were you thinking with that abomination of a rear fender and tail light setup on the '14 model of the Fat Bob? It looks like ***. That would have me looking at another bike, or at least replacement options and a discount from the dealership to cover some/all of the cost.

Hehe. I actually like the new fender. Looks "retro asian".

Im a softail guy through and through, but if there was a dyna, I'd even consider it would be a Fat Bob. It hands down rides smoother than the rest without feeling too bulky. I absolutely hate the looks of it, which goes to show how well it rides if I'd consider it.

That being said I think I prefer the '13 to the '14, but that's just me.

I would definitely take the opportunity to test ride everything if available though.

If it's just front end braking and handling seems like it would be cheaper to do those upgrades while still keeping a better looking bike.

So how do I upgrade the springer? Keeps bottoming out even with the very poor stock brake...

I haven't found a satisfying option for this yet..

Keep the coolest cruiser this side of Graceland and add the machine that "carves" up your need for the twisties.
For me its my 12 Concours. That machine is amazing and I got it brand new a yr and a half ago for 14k OTD.
Seriously, keep that bad scoot.
