I usually scrape the feeler pegs every time I ride, dunno if that is bad or not.. But today when turning onto the feeder road I heard the normal scrape then felt no resistance and didn't think much of it till I got home and saw that the whole little bolt thing had broken off the peg. My question is, is this something that might be covered under the warranty or should I just get in there myself and extract the broken off threads and replace it myself? I really should get shorter ones...
I have worn down more footpeg wear pegs than I can count...never had one break.
Might be interesting to see what the dealer says...probably going to say it's a wear item...but since it should wear and not break, maybe they'll fix it for you.
I'm wondering if it was just an anomaly, or if this is another thing that HD has cheaped out on.
Don't worry at all about the feelers - first thing I did was to unscrew and remove them. You will get very comfortable quickly on the Breakout - you will find it a great lean-into-the-curve bike. It will be rare that you scrape the actual peg. And then if so, it's cheap.
If it's a cosmetic thing, get it removed like a pimple. Then practice picking up litter as you round curves at 30 on this wonderful bike
I don't think they should cover it, normal riding technique does not require you to scrape. Just buy a new one and adjust fire. That would be like someone that likes to ride wheelies, saying my exhaust pipe tips are all ground down from wheelies, do you think the warranty will cover it.
Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking too, I know I scrape em on a daily basis, but I just didn't think one would snap off completely.. I've got a set of easy outs that I can extract the threads no problem, and I usually prefer doing my own work anyway.
I lowered my bike, scrape the **** out of my exhaust tips, should V&H be responsible or Me for My actions?
It won't be covered.
Replace it.
To have snapped it you must have caught it on something like a rock or a hole.
