1998 Heritage
I am looking to purchase a 1996 Heritage. Here is the description
1996 Heritage Classic, This mint condition machine needs a new home and a loving owner to look after it, this motorcycle has many upgrades and has been cared for from new, with only 25600 miles on the clock you will not find a better example.
It does not start. Can I have some input on weather I should take the gamble on the purchase or pass.

If you don't mind a challenge, for about $4,800, that would be a good buy. Most likely, it would be a minor fix, but you would take a chance. It could be as simple as a battery replacement, but you never know. It looks damn good. If I had the cash, I would go for it, but anticipating that it could be more than the battery. Do you know its history? When was the last time it ran? What were the conditions. It may just need clean
gas, a good carburetor cleaning and a new battery. Go for it!!
The 1996 Heritage is very nice and the asking price is $5,500. I know the first step is the battery then you go from there. I was thinking fuel and carburetor myself. I am on the east coast of Florida right now and the Heritage is up in the mountains of Western NC where the motorcycles are for the most part salt air free. I plan on buying this one and trailing it back to Florida. It is riding season down here and I am not bringing my Springer Softail anywhere near the beach. It is put away in my friend's "Hog Pen" in Saluda, NC. If I pass on this one. I will just buy one down here, ride the hell out of it, then sell it.
I am here in Florida trying to save my 27 year old 's life from his addiction to opiates.
Thanks for the help and I appreciate the input.

How could it have "been cared for since new" but, "it doesn't start"???
Most likely the carb will need to be removed and cleaned up, a new battery, the tank drained and cleaned, etc. but what if the motor's seized up, or the tranny *ucked up, not such a good deal then?

I found this one here in FL just a few minutes ago.
1999 Harley-Davidson Softail - $6500 (Melbourne FL)
1999 FXST Softail Standard. Only 5400 miles. Good brakes, good tires, front tire is brand new. Just did the 5000 mile service so all fluids replaced. Lots of extra chrome, rear luggage rack, passenger backrest, 2 into 1 Screaming Eagle exhaust pipe, H-D Stage 1 carburetor and air cleaner kit. Bike runs strong.

Sorry for the confusion. I did put 1998 on the headline.
