Default Emblem Adhesive

The prior owner of my Softail had it painted and I wanted to add the “Harley Davidson” back to the tank. I picked up a metal emblem for it but was wondering what would be the best adhesive to use.

Thanks
Tony

Tape is also an option, but depending on the design of the emblem, might be easier to use and adhesive.

Thanks, For this application I think the liquid will work though the tape sounds easier. Might just order both to have it on hand.

In the past I had chrome side moldings on my trunk come lose.
After cleaning the surfaces with alcohol.
I used 3M Super Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive. The Super is black in color and fast drying. Use sparingly. If need to clean excessive adhesive around emblem.
I would use K1 Kerosene which has a light oil base that doesn't harm the finish. Also the K1 is good for removing road tar and cleaning oil base paint brushes which leaves a lite film to keep the britsles pliable.
To keep the emblem in place I would use the Blue painters tape.
Just a idea from Old School.

Factory uses double sided foam tape. cheap and easy to use plus easy to remove later if you change your mind.

The red 3M VHB( Very high bond) tape is what the factory uses. Your local body shop will probably have a roll of it. If not there is a guy who sells lots of different sizes on ebay. I took my emblems to my local body guy he put the tape on the emblems and wouldn't take a dime from me. Went home marked my spots real good because you only get one chance with this stuff. Pull the red protective stuff off and stick it on. Works like a champ.

+1 for the red 3M VHB( Very high bond) tape. Used by factory and body shops.

Default Tape

I would go with the 3M just because it won't do any damage . If it don't work out you can always go to the other .
