Default What tools do I need fellas??

Greetings my friends. I'm in need of a laundry list of tools that I will need to attempt a main shaft bearing R&R. Had my 08 FXSTC with 52K on the clock, up on the lift table the other day, and as I was turning the back wheel, heard the awfulest sound coming from what appeared to be behind my inner primary cover, around the transmission drive pulley area. So I'm thinking main drive bearing.
What all speciality tools do I need for this job fellas? I already have the IPB tool, but I know I'll need more than that. Thanks in advance for your help my friends.

A few. You also need the inner race puller. You can grind and break it. However, you need it to press it back on. This is not a job for a first time. I doubt you can hear it by simple turning wheel..but who knows.

Man, it sounds rough as a cob up in there somewhere. Won't be my first foray into unfamiliar territory. But I am mechanically inclined at least. Been doing industrial maintenance for a living for the past 15+ years. And even before that, I was always turning my own wrenches on whatever. I've got all the basics....lift table, locking bar, IPB removal/install tool, torque wrenches.
Do I need a trap door puller?

Guess it depends what bearing are bad. I would think it was the inner driveshaft needle bearings. Been into my primary 3 times. I know I dropped the rear wheel out the second time to get the belt drive loose. I then pushed the belt fwd off the front drive pulley. In this way I could spin the input shaft and switch up thru the gears. Mine felt pretty good, so I stayed out of there. Turned out my problem was chain alignment in the primary caused by the alternator rotor spline being stripped. Comp spring was driving it, but it had slipped till it wore a 1/16 step in the side letting the sprockets get off. Dealer went into it twice under warrant looking for the problem and never found it. Took me two more times to finally find it. PS. when you first ask, I assumed you didn't have a screw driver..HA
