Default windshield wrong size

I ordered the Klock Werks Billboard windshield for my 1997 Heritage (FLSTC) and there is a problem with the location of the mounting holes. I am the second owner and of the bike and have no reason not to believe that everything on the bike isn't original including the windshield.
Here are the mounting hole locations of my original windshield. From the center hole (on the horizional support) going straight across the next hole is 7 1/8 and 9 3/4 to the next. The new windshield the measurement from the center hole 6 3/8 and 9 3/4. It's only the two holes near the center that don't line up. The vertical bracket holes are fine.

My question is, after seeing my original measurements, is there a chance that the original shield and brackets were from a different Harley?
Thanks,
Bill

The measurements you provided for the original w/s are the same as on my 95 Fatboy. I wanted a KW Billboard shield too and the guys at KW said they had one, I met them at Destination Daytona last year and as soon as the tech looked at the bike he told me they couldn't fit it .....
I provided a diagram and measurements to James at Longride and he said it was a Heritage 'B' shield. He had 1 in stock and it did fit with no problem.
If you can't return it to KW, you may be able to drill or slot the holes on the KW shield.
If you can return it - call James and see if he has the Heritage B available (it was $74.75 without the Forum discount). The Heritage B with the recurve is a great product !
