I always lock my bike when over-nighting on the road. Use brake disk locks. Cheap insurance.

^^^Agree^^^

Cheaper than many available locks, not as bulky and a bitch to try & cut...if they have the time to work through it then...let them have the bike. That's why we have insurance...

This is what I used to do: Ideally it got parked where I could see it from my room. Chained to another bike or post with hi security chain and lock, forks locked, and front disc locked (Roadlok). Driveway motion detector on seat on in saddlebag (receiver in my room). Then it got covered with a unbranded bike cover. I would then be up and down all night checking on it.

Now I park it in a dark area with the key in the ignition and hope it's gone in the morning .

Anytime my bike is out of my sight I lock the ignition, very seldom do I lock the forks...I do admit, sometimes I get nervous about leaving it outside (i.e. hotel, etc.)...

I have always just locked the ign and front, that's it...

Ignition lock, fork lock, disc lock, cable through wheel and frame, cheap $20-$25 Walmart cover.
Bike also has a self installed kill switch.
Layers of security with the cheap cover being the first plus the cover keeps drunks and kids off the bike.
