You know its funny, try to do a good thing and everyone is a freakin genious and knows everything. Apologies to the know it alls, this post was not for you!
I'm not sure what you would want (expect) Cycle Trader to do with this information. It's your responsibility to make sure a seller pays for the goods- not theirs. But hopefully this will make some gullible people more aware- If you don't have a cashiers check, I would always wait about a week to make sure the funds clear- just common sense.
And there's a million FAKE cashiers checks out there to.Can't trust those now days.
My friend just went through this on cars.com. I guy wanted to buy his car sight unseen. He was willing to pay the full amount plus a little extra. In return he would have to send him $1,000 via Western Union in order for the shipper to be compensated.
I asked my friend to give me his number so I could have a little fun. We went back and forth all day and then I let him wait a while and then let him know what a scum he was. Excuse my language lol, once he said that I intended to steal from him, I lost it a little
He never responded back after the last text.

I guess I don't get out in the world too much. I never heard of the credit card/ paypal scam. I'd think paypal would have the warning since the scammers use their process.
I've had a few issues with paypal and for every successful GL sale I've had about a thousand scammers. I'll still use CL and Ebay but all transactions are cash in hand, nothing else.
When I was trying to sell the Heritage,
some clown from craigslist was trying to
pull something.
Was overseas, etc.
but said he lived local.
Wanted my bank info for a $ transf to buy it sight
unseen.
Uh . . . NO !!

Reason: spelling
I bought my boat and my Harley through Craigslist. Both sellers were genuinely surprised that I came down from Canada with cash and completed legitimate sales transactions.
And thanks to the original poster. Any reminder of these scamming a-holes is a good thing.
I need to remind myself to never screw around with Johnny G. He's pretty handy on the texting.
I got a call from a scammer telling me that my computer was infected with a virus and that I needed to turn it on and let them clear it. I fished him for about 15 minutes before getting a little racist on his a$$. Gotta find these guys and throw their a$$es in jail.
