Which one? Private or Dealer?
Which do you think is a better deal?
This is private and has a payoff. I think I can get it for $12300 Completely Stock

Went to the HD dealer today to see about handling the sale and they had this and could sell it to me for $12500 as well

This bike looks like it has Stage one. Not liking the pipes because I think they will be too loud but I DO like the ability to put deeper bags on the bike.
I made a list of adds, Nostalgia Windshield, Engine guards. Guard Chaps,Back rest, Headlight modulator, Passing lamp kit, They have a set of used Leather Soft Tail bags they would throw in that didn't look too bad. Totoa around $1200 All Harley. I would have to buy the bags $800 for the other bike as well as the rest of the accessories. Plus pay tax on $2000 ($180)
Buying from the dealer already accessorized means no tax on accessories because sales tax is capped at $300 on any registered vehicles here
The sales guy told me because of the pipes it has to have a K&N and Map or EFI plug an play. Stage I?
So it would appear the dealer has the better deal but 6000 more miles. But I would only have $14500 in it total.
Which would you choose.
Anyone running those V&Hs I do not want uber loud pipes. If they are really loud I will pass. I did not hear the bike because it was at a different store and it was too late to go up there.

Here's the real deal. I want and have the bread for an Indian Chieftain but all seven are sold out and the next three at the local dealership is gone as well. None until Bike Week. I thought waiting till after the initial rush was gone there would be choices. I probably can go out of town and get one at a higher volume dealership but I want to support my local guys.
Since I sold my bike , I decided to look for a bike I could sell easy and ride cheap. Harley is the ticket and when I saw that FB I thought here is a bike I can buy for $12,500 and sell in a year or two for $10,000 THEN buy a used Chieftain for maybe $15K if their resale is as bad as Victory. That's the plan anyway.
I went to Harley to "broker" the deal. They wanted $500 AND I had to finance. I don't do finance. So they show me theirs and will match the price and throw in some bags and give me a discount on the shield. But their bike likely has an Air kit and some kind of EFI map or tuner. I just don't want to mess around with all that. I don't plan on keeping it, and I think it would be easier selling a bone stock bike with 6K-10K miles than that one with 12K-16K. I don't trade bikes or cars. Always sell privately. Clean Trade value on the 2K bike is $11,100 Auction $11,800, I would really prefer it was a Road King custom lol,
I will probably buy the private bike and put cheap bags and a shield on it and ride it until used Indians start showing up and hope they don't hold their value well.....Or do what my wife says and just buy what I want the first time and wait it out which I will do if that bike is gone or there are lien issues with HArley financing. The Indian will be my last bike. (I don't see me riding past 65 and thats 7 years away) I did call them today and they said 10 days after the wire they will send the title.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
As far as buying from a dealer, I don't mind paying a little more, because the process is easy, streamlined and relatively safe from fraud, and I feel like they're more likely to stand behind the bike than a private seller would be, should there turn out to be some kind of preexisting problem.
If you don't plan on keeping this bike for long, then it seems like the cheapest option is your best bet?! Unless I'm missing something?
A stock Harley is usually easier to sell than a modified one, although I wouldn't consider the one from the dealer highly modified either. Pipes are easy to replace.
