After reading some posts on risers on this forum I purchased a set of Deluxe risers to put on my Heritage. Everything looks like it will fit OK except for the brake line. It appears to be far to short to go up two more inches and back an inch and one-half. There is basically zero slack in the brake line. Did any of you have to change the brake line to get the risers to fit? If you had to change the brake line what part number did you use?
Loosen the fasteners that secure the brake line to the backside of the triple tree and then pull the brake line up until everything lines up for you. If you look at the slack in the line between the clamps and the brake caliper you will see that you should be able to move it up a bit. If that doesn't work, you'll need to swap out to a longer brake line. If you did the riser install yourself you should not have any issues with swapping out a brake line unless you have anti-locking brakes.
I put those same risers on a Slim, and like they say, I just loosened the clamps on the back of the tree shroud and pulled up a little slack - good to go.
Thanks all. I have changed bars and risers on several Harley touring bikes. However, I just picked up the 2004 Heritage (only had 5400 miles) and am changing several things to make it more comfortable for touring. Never had a softail before so I thought I would ask here first so I didn't reinvent the wheel. I was waiting for a GPS I ordered to arrive so i could make a mount before changing the risers.
Here's a couple of shots. Turned a couple of spacers to fit the recesses on the bottom of the top riser clamp so the mount would just clear the curved part of the top riser clamp. Then made a mounting plate and installed the ball. Simple, but it has the GPS mounted in the center of the bars where I like it.

Have I got the right risers? I put them on and after moving and bending the brake line they fit, but the throttle control cables are awful tight when it is sitting on the side stand. They are 4.5" from the bottom to the joint between the riser and clamp. The old ones were less than 2". Motorcycle Cowgirl, your risers look like they have a sharper bend and aren't quite as tall. About how tall are yours from the top of the triple tree to the center of the clamp?
