Default center console removal

I just recently purchased a 93 Heritage. I am having a hard time taking the center console out to replace a burnt bulb (hopefully). SO I got the acorn nut off no problem but is there a trick to taking the whole piece off without damaging the trip reset ****? I can almost get it but if I pull on it any harder the **** is going to bend or break. Any help is appreciated thank you

There is either a small screw int he center of the reset **** or turn the reset counter clockwise to remove it
