I'm helping a friend look at a used 2012 Heritage and I've noticed something but don't know what it's suppose to look like. I'm looking at the small bracket on the frame where the TOP of the crash guard bolts on. This one is not flat. It sticks out toward the front of the bike. Is this correct or has this bike possibly been in an accident. I couldn't make it to Harley today to check it out. Can anybody enlighten me please?
If the owner hit something with the crash bar, It will cause the top mounting plate to be pulled out forward. I was assaulted by a large green thermos bottle that hit the right side of my crash bar on my 09 heritage. Pushed the crash bar around half way under the floorboard. It bent the bottom right mounting point of the crash bar. Pulled the top plate out almost 3/8 inch, because of the rotation of the crash bar . Took a hammer to flatten the top mounting plate back. Have had no problems with it since
He come clean. Layed it down in a mall parking lot when a kid came out of no where and he panic he said. Showed me pics of damage. He didn't replace bar. I told friend to buy if he liked it. I think he will. Thanks for help.
