Default Carlini owners...

Do any of you guys running "flyin" or "gangsta" apes regret the switch from another brand? Do they handle or ride different? Are they more or less confortable? and why?

In the process of changing out my 14" Gangstas for another brand. I am 5'6" and have shorter arms, and they are just too wide for me to be comfortable with them. They are fine in a straight line, and they feel pretty bad@$$. But I feel silly when trying to maneuver in full lock out. They are just too wide for me.

I have 18" Gangsters on my Road Glide. I love that bars. But, with a hydraulic clutch on my bike, I was limited to the 1.25" bars.

I've been thinking long and hard about swapping my Carlinis for Buky Bars. Juan's bars can work with a hyrdraulic clutch and are 1.5" diameter. Having had them before, they're simply the best around.

Carlini's are great, but they're pretty rigid on what they'll produce. Not a lot of room for custom.

i have a 14" gangster 1.5" thick on a deluxe, am 6 feet tall and its much more comfortable riding the bike now, i feel the bike more stable , it still new so i still need to get used to the U turns .. i turn much wider now, but in general its amazing and i wont go back to stock .. everyone comes and try it out on my riding group and now they all think about getting one, ahh they all think its 16" and i have to convince them its 14" so yea carlini looks higher than other brands
here is how it looks ..

thanks for the insight so far. I have ran 16" wild ones and Burly bars. I was under the impression the Carlini's were a lot wider at the grips and possible turn your hands out a little more than what I am used to.. I am only 5'8 with long torso and longer arms. I ride quite abit of 300-500 mile one way trips...so while apes arent new too me I just wondered about width of Carlini's and long distance comfort.

Width of the bars will be determined by whether or not you choose 1.25" bars or 1.5" bars.

1.5" bars are a few inches wider, and also run taller than stated, by 1-2 inches, as a result of the thicker diameter.

With your description of yourself, I think you would be fine either way.

I've done several long days with these bars and other similar apes. Last May, I ran about 960 miles in a day, from Colorado to Illinois. Bars were perfectly comfortable the whole way, even across windy Kansas!

Everyone says the 1.5"s fit the fat boys better but I went with the 1.25" 16 Gangstas because I didn't want the width of the 1.5"s I loved them.

Default Carlini Bars

I have 14" X 1.50 gangsters on my Deluxe and I love them. The main thing when getting apes is to make sure the riser clamps provide you with the ability to utilize a set screw to keep the bars in place. The carlini clamps do. If you don't have this option get ready to start trying to use make shift items, to keep the the bars tight. Been there, done that, and it is a pain in the ****.

My vote is the carlini's are hard to beat.
