Haha that is what I thought initially when reading that comment. But in his defense, I did think about what I could have done differently. There are a million what-if scenarios that I could have thought of, but what is done is done.
1. This shows that 'always watching behind you' won't catch everything. I almost had the same experience except that when I saw the cage's backup lights, I hit my horn and he stopped.
2. In Vegas, the cops don't come out to make a report anymore unless there is an injury.
