My EVO vibrates at speed enough the mirrors aren't usable.
I bought it brand new and my first thought riding it home was if people are complaining about HDs vibrating, they must be pussies.
The Twin Cam B motor is day and night smoother than anything before it.
An interesting note I will make is that my last ride (`09 Dyna SG) was smoother at highway speeds and above than my current sig bike. But it also had 6 speeds.
If you are used to a a Electra Glide or Road King or Road Glide and ride a Softail at high speeds for a while you will notice it a little , I rode a Heritage for a Weekend while my FLHTC was being worked on and i could tell it was there... this was at 75mph on the slab...If it's all you rode i say you probably might not notice it.
Hello everybody.I'm looking for my first Harley and really like the Fatboy and Heritage bikes.I plan on short to medium rides.Maybe 200 miles in one day.Theres a small shop here in town that has a few nice bikes.I keep getting steered towards a Road King which looks nice also.I keep hearing about the buzz or vibration the softails have at highway speeds. Is this really true issue or I'm I getting steered towards something someone wants to sell??Thanks.
I've had my Springer since 05 and with over 75k on her, I haven't noticed any buzz or vibration but then again, everybody has their own idea of what buzzing and vibration is.
Wife and I both have Softails. Hers is a 2011 and mine is a 2007 (Deluxe and Fatty) Buzzing is not a problem. Both are very smooth. I think if an 07 or up Softie is buzzy at highway speeds there is probably a reason such as loose motor mount, bad tires, out of tune, high crankshaft run out etc. A solid one will not have a big vibration problem in my experience.
