1. laying in a hospital with a mangled face isn't cool.
2. wearing a helmet is cooler than never enjoying your ride again because of a serious head injury.
3. laying in a casket at a funeral home isn't cool.

if you don't believe any of the above, just ask a friend or a loved one.

to each his/her own.

I will ride with a full face helmet even if others don't think i am cool.

I wear a DOT half, and for the rain I gotta mask that works fine. I didn't like the wind noise inside the fullface, or the restricted vision. anyhow, whatever works

I grew up riding dirt bikes and have been using full face helmets my whole life. I'm not going to stop now because I have a Harley. I think they are quieter at speed and protect from bugs and road debris better. When I lived in South Carolina I sometimes went without helmet but a bumblebee in the face @ 80mph will make you a believer in full face helmets.

I think my next helmet will be a modular flip-up type - safety of full face but you can flip it up to talk or if you get too hot in traffic.

I also use a half helmet when putting around on the back roads, but if out on the highway I was using a full face helmet. My wife got me a modular for Xmas, just started using it, I like it so far.
Wear whatever makes you comfortable!!!

I have a HJC modular helmet and I love it. I bought it because it's really usefull when going onto a military base. ButI'm really glad I bought it because Iwas hit directly on the faceshield several times by some really big bugs. Not so sure how that would have turned outwearing just a half helmet. I rode with a half helmet one time and I have to say it is definitely a different experience, but with a wife and two kids now I'm not willing to take a risk.

If you bought your Harley for your friends, then do as they wish like a sissy would so they won't tease you.
Do these non-sissy friends of yours wear glasses, boots, gloves, chaps, jackets or any other protective gear?
If you bought a bike for you, then ride your bike for you, wear the helmet you like, and ride your ride.
I wish I had found a full face helmet that I loved to wear before finding my half helmet that makes me hate to ride with anything else. My wife and sons are starting to ride and I won't let them on a bike without a full face helmet, hopefully they will get used to it and not even consider wearing anything less. I was cheap on helmets when I started riding, but will spend money I don't have to get them quality, good fitting, fully protective helmets.

My wife and I both wear Modular HJC helmets.
If I get hot at a stoplight or such, I can flip it up.
If I crash face first, I know I will still have a nose.

I'm planning on going full face...have my eye on an Arai Corsair in race black. It will look a little odd on the back of a Deluze, but I'd rather protect my cranium than look the stereotype. Down here, there are a ton of guys riding without helmets at all...to each their own, I say.

gconklin - Gorgeous bike btw!

I don't mind wearing my full face helmet. I agree with ride with what works for you. I am not worried about the other bikers. I am worried about the cagers.
