Default Is this normal??

So last night the Ol and me hit the town and wound up taking a ride over to the beach. On the way back traffic leaving the beach was stop and go, mostly stop then crawl. Outside temps were 75F with low humidity, especially for Florida.

Even in these conditions the bike was running hot like it was 95 degrees out or something, wanting stall, lugging ya know all the ***** these HD do being air cooled.

Do you guys have this happen in such mild temps? Is this normal or should I start investigating? I run Synthetic to help with heat. Maybe try a different brand or weight?

A stock bike should have absolutely no issues with those temps. According to your parts list, your bike has all manner of go fast parts added to it. All of that power makes more heat. Slow moving air can not get rid of that heat. You will need a better oil cooler, and maybe a accessory cooling fan.

I don't have those issue when it actually is 95 degrees out! I have taken steps to help deal with the heat though, steps I swear by, steps others tell me I am wasting my time and money on. I will tell you what I have done and I hope that it won't take this thread off course. I'm not here to debate this, I am only here to share what I have found that works for me.

Syn. oil, Amsoil and only Amsoil and I do a 100% clean oil change. The premium Harley oil cooler. It has the thermostat in it that doesn't open until the oil hit's 185 degrees. I also make sure my engine runs at peak performance too by way of a Dyno. The top end is off of it right now getting the fins show cut and head work. When its all back together it goes back to the Dymo guy. I'm anxious to see if either of those will have an effect on temps.

I figured it was the build I put on the engine. The whole time of stop and crawl I was thinking "man I gotta get an oil cooler".

Jagg oil cooler. I've had one on my Heritage for years. Works great!

Running down the road hasn't been an issue. Its the stop and go or sitting in traffic not moving that is problem. I ordered the HD premium cooler today now I'm wondering if I need to have it retuned at a different tuner, even though my dyno guy was trained by one of the top tuners in USA? I found the Ultra cool brand and it has fans for the stop and go pace where as HD and Jagg dont....

Does the TTS system still have the "parade" mode shut down on the rear cylinder?
