I have a 2002 Springer FLSTSi which has had trouble with a hot start a couple times. It starts great cold but on occasion when I stop for a few minutes (gas, waiting for somebody) it turns over but won't fire up. It seems to on the second or third try.
It has just had a major 10k service though it's closer to 50k miles though this has happened once before and twice since the service. I bought the bike this past January so I don't know whether it's the battery that could be nearing replacement or something else. I'm becoming nervous to take it for a long ride and need to stop for gas and it won't start.
I have a 03 Deuce and mine also does this. I just give it a lil bit of gas and it will start the first time. Unforantly i also do not know why this is. Hopefully one the guys that do know will chime in soon..
Hot starts are usually an issue in high compression motors. When I did my upgrade to 95", I had the Heads worked that brought the compression up so I also had them add Compression Releases. On Hot Starts I always use them.
