Default Seats

Well after a long month of problems I traded my 06 heritage and got a 14 heritage classic. Man what a difference in ride and so much less engine whine from the balance shafts.

Dilema. The old ride had a mustang seat that was pretty comfortable. I wouldn't say perfect but just more comfortable.

I'm 5'10" and 315. The stock seat really pushes me forward. I'm looking for advice on a seat that will sit me back more.

Part 2.

My last ride had SE slip on pipes. Not much louder than stock but I really like the look of the slash downs. I would not mind something a bit louder.

For me it's about the look and not so much how loud. The VH ones seem small. I have looked and can't find anything other than another set of SE pipes that have that meatier look.

Are there other slash down pipes for a 14 heritage?? I see baloony cut and slash outs but not slash downs

I really like a stock Fatboy take off. They're cheap to buy and sits you about 3" back and 2" lower. I rode a 1400 trip on mine with a 600+ mile day, no soreness. Worth the $50 it cost me just for the comfort on that ride alone! HTH.

Congrats on your upgrade!

Have you considered going with the same Mustang seat as you had on your old bike?

I have a set of Khrome Werks slip-ons on my 2013 Slim. They look identical to the stock mufflers, but sound a lot better. The are louder than the stock pipes and much deeper. I also recommend Rush mufflers.

I had my stock seat reworked at a professional upholsterer and I could not be happier with it and comfortable as any seat I have ever sat on. I had it made just for me, how I like it and finished to match the bike. There are a few "seat" threads rolling around here, I started one months ago called Custom seat/Seat **** and there are a few really nice seats there that other guys have had done too. Give it some thought, cruise around on the bike and see if you have any shops in your area and stop in and talk to someone. My guy was an hour away but it was well worth it. The cost was no more than buying a seat too. Good luck and keep us posted.

tbonetony06...Tried to send you a PM but your box is full. I am bringing my '13 Heritage up to Tinley Park for a charity benefit ride for the place 2 of my handicapped cousins live next weekend. I am interested in getting the same thing done to my seat you had done in Orland Park. Can you send me the address of your upholsterer. The only address I could find for American Upholstery was on Cicero downtown...Thanks, Dave

dwdet10, I sent you a private message with the details you asked for. I think if you know what you want when you go in there you will be a little bit ahead of the game but also listen to this guys advice, they are really good at doing what they do and can maybe give you more of what you want and need. The gelfoam padding they used on my seat is incredibly comfortable. This a gelfoam that does not hold heat either so its not like sitting on a fryer pan when it's been out in the sun. Anything will get hot when sitting out but this is not like the gel inserts, its actually a padding. They also have TONS of colors too. I didn't know there were so many shades of white until I walked into their shop so look through the display samples closely. As for the cost? It really isn't any or much more than what you would spend on a new seat....that you might not like once you put it on your bike and ride a few hundred miles. I have seen guys buy as many as 3 seats chasing a comfortable ride and seat. Good luck and I would like to hear how it went for you or a picture or two once it's done.
